Cassie Cox

Cassie was diagnosed June 12, 2004 with a Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma (Brain Tumor) located in an inoperable place in front of her brain stem. She is undergoing chemotherapy for the third time in four years. The doctors are trying to keep it from growing and buying time to allow her to mature before she will eventually have to undergo radiation therapy. The tumor has already affected her eyesight with some blind spots in her left field of vision. This has not deterred Cassie from her love of reading which is a favorite pastime. Cassie is a friendly, enthusiastic and energetic girl who also loves to play with her sister, her friends, pretend numerous things with her creative imagination and learn about animals.

Cassie states her dreams and aspirations are to be a missionary for the LDS Church when she is old enough, become an artist so she can make beautiful things, and a doctor in order to help other people as she has been helped because she has come to love the doctors and staff at Primary Children’s Medical Center.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Cassie is a quiet and contemplative girl with a sweet disposition. She seems to accept these challenges without retreating. It is impressive and inspiring how confidently and quietly she adapts. Her family can tell you more about her than I can if you ask them. They are great people and are pulling through these challenges in a very commendable way. Cassie deserves all of our support and prayers.

I taught at Lakeview Academy last year had the great opportunity of having Cassie in my first grade class. This is one amazing little girl! Cassie is a strong little girl with a great love for others. Cassie is a friend to everyone and is always looking out for others. She has a love for learning and reading that every teacher loves to see in a child. This little girl is so strong and faces each day and the challenges before her with a smile and determination that amazes me. She has a great family that supports and loves her. Her mother is an amazing woman who encourages Cassie and gives her and her family much strength. Cassie, our prayers are with you!

I'd love to make a donation -- will it be possible to donate at the event, or just through the credit union?
